Fighting the cycle of poverty, One home at a time
The community of Smash Block is a township where people have lived for the past 30 years, mostly without any running water, or other necessities like electricity or decent roads.
Most days here are spent either gathering wood, water and food to sustain their day to day lives, or doing menial tasks like washing clothes and preparing food to sell in an effort to survive.
Many children under the age of 7 get no formal pre-school education, and only a select few of the ones older than 7 attend school. This cycle of poverty seems unbreakable.
